Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park
Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park is worth the 170 km (105 mi) drive from Calgary. Located near Trochu, this park features stunning vistas and ancient rock formations, including hoodoos, sandstone banks and more. Hiking, picnicking and swimming in the Red Deer River are popular park activities. The 45 m (148) buffalo jump is one of the tallest in Alberta and the badland environment conjures visions of days long ago. The park is open from May 1 to September and the access road is closed during rainy spells, but hikers can still enjoy the park.
Address: 30 km (18 mi) northeast of Trochu on Hwy 21
    Telephone 1 403 442-4211
