Turtle Mountain
In the early morning hours of a cool April night in 1903 a 150 metre (500 feet) deep, 425 metre (1,400 feet) high and one kilometre (3,280 feet) wide sheet of limestone wrenched loose from the face of Turtle Mountain and crashed down on the newly-founded town of Frank. 82 million tonnes of rock crushed the homes of 100 people, out of which an amazing 23 survived. The mountain still bears the scars from that frightening night, and most of the rock still lays where it landed more than a century ago. |

Rocky Mountain Front
The Rocky Mountain Front refers to where the Rocky Mountains drop abruptly to the Great Plains in northern Montana and southern Alberta. The front is sometimes referred to as the "Crown of the Continent" and runs for over 150 mi (240 km) and sees a sudden elevation change of almost 5,000 ft (1,500 m).
